By completing this program, participants will earn the P.A.In [Professional in Applied Innovation] designation.
The P.A.In is a public statement of your capabilities as a 21st Century Strategic Leader, with the capacity to embrace the challenges of change and innovation.
The Applied Innovation program is based on the Applied Innovation Capstone Course that was delivered through the Executive MBA program at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
We are our own worst enemy when it comes to change. Yet adaptability and problem solving has driven our very existence and evolution. We should be embracing change. Change is a natural and an inherent part of everything we do – it’s what makes us alive.
The traditional power and control elements of an organisation represent a paradox related to achieving breakthrough and disruptive innovation, specifically, and successful change, generally. New corporate models point to the need to decentralize authority and decision making to the front lines; but the buy-in required for effective change and innovation can only come from grass-roots action – from the community itself.
Given a long enough time horizon, all innovation is an artifact of a fringe idea moving into – and eventually dominating – the mainstream.
Peter Drucker defined “what you do different” as a critical element of strategy. This is an experiential course that will help you define and practice ‘doing different’, and to embrace the challenges of change and innovation and which will cascade the related leadership and culture elements across your organisation and community.
The experience will be transformational – helping you to distinguish between the traditional notion we have of innovation leaders today and innovation leadership that truly enables and inspires across an organisation, community, and around the world.
This is a highly experiential course. There’s only so much that one can learn about innovation, as well as leadership and culture/change management within a traditional academic curriculum, after that you simply have to “do”. Specifically, when it comes to innovation, you have to ‘do things differently’.
The challenge is how to practice doing things differently while still preserving a highly functioning environment. The goal is not to start with the end “product” or idea in mind, but to focus on the process of discovery that is inherent in all innovation. Because as you will learn, innovation is the artefact of a process and not the end goal.
By focusing on the process of discovery and experiencing the full cycle of exploration, ethnography, and experimentation, learners will be provided with a canvass for innovation, leadership, and change management. The goal is to provide you with a methodology and experience that you can share and practice going forward in whatever challenge or problem you choose to solve. If you complete this course, you will be rewarded with a portfolio that proves your ability to complete the innovation process and an ability to see the world differently.

This is an experiential course where competency is determined by the completion of activity documented in an Applied Innovation Portfolio. The course has three modules: IMAGINE, INNOVATE, and BUILD.

Successful completion of the online modules in this program leads to earning a certificate of completion. In addition, participants can earn the P.A.In [Professional in Applied Innovation] designation through the Logistics Institute, by submitting their portfolios for review and approval.

Multi-lingual and with a track record of building and managing diverse teams around the world, he spent two years in Latin America and almost 5 years in Asia. As a person of diverse interests and experiences, he worked with companies involved in Energy, IT, Private Equity, International Trade, Manufacturing, Licensing of Intellectual Property, R&D, Socially Responsible Businesses, Advertising, and Education. He brings a unique skill-set in how to approach and lead organizations and a unique capability to find order in chaos.
All professional designations are owned and maintained by the Logistics Community of Interest under the stewardship of the Logistics Institute. Professional designations are registered trademarks of the Logistics Institute.
The P.A.In. designation belongs to the Logistics Institute as a trademarked asset. P.A.In professionals are members of the Logistics Institute. Earning the P.A.In designation entails successful completion of the Applied innovation online program, as well as submitting the Applied Innovation Portfolio for review.
Designations must be renewed on an annual basis for continued use of the trademark. The professional year for all designations runs from November 1 – October 31.
